5 Proven Ways Exercise Makes You Look Younger

What do The Fountain of Youth and Your Gym Membership have in common?

Both make you look younger!

5 Proven ways Exercise Makes you Look Younger.

Exercise is for everyone because of its general health benefits. We know it increases weight loss and helps build muscles. But there’s more! Exercise makes you look younger. The fountain of youth is found in your workout plan. Here are five ways exercise can help you get that youthful look we all want to keep

1. Smooth, Glowing Skin

Sweating. That smelly, messy side effect from working out is actually helping us look younger. With regular exercise, your skin is constantly cleared of impurities, giving it a healthy look and that gorgeous glow.

2. Posture

Our posture declines as we age due to muscle loss and bone density. Build your posture in your younger years using strength training. Strength training builds muscles to support our skeletons, especially our spines, keeping us taller longer. Psychologically, we feel better if we are standing tall.

3. Keep The Calories Burning

Exercise burns calories and increases metabolism. The more you run, lift, swim, stretch, and do yoga, your metabolism at a higher rate, even when you’re resting. This is the main reason why people engage in different kinds of exercises. SWITCH IT UP! Keep your body guessing and it will be harder for your muscles, stamina, and metabolism to plateau. When you age, your metabolism slows. Schedule regular workouts and vary them every two-to-three weeks. You’ll maintain a healthier body and keep your metabolism at a steady, high rate. The weight stays off, and our bodies look younger.

4. Slow Your Cells SUSAN GOES SCIENCE

People age at a cellular level. At the tip of our chromosomes are telomeres. They control a cell’s aging process. As we age, telomeres get shorter. Therefore, longer telomeres are connected to living longer lives. The more you exercise regularly, the longer it takes for telomeres to shorten, so your cells will live longer. You’ll feel younger, and your body will be younger!

5. Stress Less

Exercise is a great escape from our stressful lives. Hiking, running, playing any kind of sport and other engaging activities are a great break from our day-to-day stress.

I am a retired marathon/ ultramarathon runner. A couple of years ago, I injured my knee, and what I missed more than anything was how exercise made me feel mentally. I swapped the pounding on the road for climbing all the mountains on the AT! Being outdoors in fresh air and nature is perfect for decreasing stress.

The reason we feel awesome after exercising is chemical. It’s because when we exercise, endorphins are released in our brains that make us feel happier. Stress and anxiety play a major role in how we feel physically and mentally. High stress over long periods of time can have devasting effects on our bodies, increasing the downside of aging. Exercise more and stress less to look and feel younger.

Exercise really can help you stay young both physically and mentally.

If you want to even better, a change in diet is essential.

Drink more water.

Watch what you put into your body.

Be mindful of your attitude!

A total lifestyle change can help you become healthier – and, in a sense, younger.
