Our wishes have finally come true.
We’ve kicked 2020 to the curb!
All the disaster that it has unleashed is finally over!
Really?
No.
When the ball dropped, it was just another moment.
Another minute, another hour, another day.
The tick of a watch or the turn of a calendar page doesn’t change anything.
It’s like the yellow door that I walked by in Cooperstown, NY, a couple of days ago. This bright yellow door was just begging me to pose for a picture with it.
And guess what was on the other side?
I have no idea.
You know why?
Because I never opened it.
The door was yellow, it looked cool, my husband took my picture, and we continued walking down the street.
You see, we can be given a new day, a new year, a second chance, or the opportunity to walk through a door. But unless we take action, everything will remain unchanged.
I’m the restless type. I don’t like to sit and wait and see what happens. I want to make things happen. Take control. Steer the ship. Call it what you will, but I believe that our happiness and success are solely based on the actions we take to create them.
I didn’t walk through that yellow door, but you get my point.
Opportunity is not going to hunt you down.
Be curious, be bold, and create your own opportunities.
Stop hoping and praying and waiting for a new year or a new day.
There are doors everywhere.
Open them.
