Reckless Relaxation

When was the last time you wrote “lie in my hammock, read, nap, and snuggle with my pups every day” on your “to do” list?
If it wasn’t on your list, pen it in for tomorrow.
If you don’t have dogs or a hammock, there is no need to go to the shelter or shop Amazon prime, but jot this one down on your list.
Relax.
We don’t do enough unplugging these days, do we?
It’s pretty simple, but it seems so… reckless! Sitting down in the middle of the day and perhaps even closing your eyes for a couple of minutes can even stir up guilt.
There’s always something that needs doing.
And it won’t get done unless we do it.

Trust me when I tell you that unplugging is the best thing I’ve ever forced myself to do.
You know how sometimes your computer gets slow and glitchy, and the only sure fix it is to unplug it?
Exactly.
We are all going through the same thing.
If we want to work correctly, we must regroup.

I know we think that sleeping at night is the time to catch that break. BUT, what do we do when we jump out of bed? We start.
Coffee, email, workouts, cleaning, getting ready for our day, getting everyone else ready for their day, then, for most of us, off to work.
How about taking an intentional time-out for pleasure?
No guilt. No excuses. No explanations.

Put your blinders on, and as Nike commands, Just DO it!

“Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes… including you.” Anne Lamott
