4 Steps to ZIP Past Your Fears

What is holding us back?

FEAR

We live our lives in fear.

Almost everyone is controlled by fear every day, without even realizing it.

Fear of failure.

Fear of rejection.

Fear of judgment.

Fear of being inadequate.

Fear of injury.

A little healthy fear is a good thing. It keeps us from doing dumb things that could harm or even kill us. I’m talking about all the fear that holds us back from living the life we deserve.

Here are four steps to get ahead of your fears and get ahead in your life!

  1. Identify your fear. It’s vital. Ask yourself a series of questions and be super honest with yourself. Our fear is usually rooted in the unknown. Keep asking yourself “why” and “what if” questions. It’s kind of like turning the lights on in a dark room. We imagine all sorts of scary things lurking in the darkness, but when we turn up the lights, we see what is real.
  2. Stop making excuses. Fear is an excuse! Go back to step one if you still have excuses.
  3. Create goals. Success is like a ladder. We would all love to jump right to the top, but it doesn’t work that way. This is where fear keeps attacking us. It’s easier to fight fear one rung at a time.
  4. Surround yourself with success! Avoid negative people, places, and situations. Listen to podcasts, sermons, and success stories. Read books about people who took something to the next level. You will have more confidence when you see that others have conquered their fears.

I had the pleasure of zip lining with some pretty cool people in Mexico last week.

Our company took their top 150 sales associates on a fabulous trip to Cabo.

Imagine the fear we all had to work through to be successful enough to earn that trip. Fear of rejection is huge! For those in sales, rejection is the number one reason people quit.

Some of us had never zip-lined before, so naturally, there was a little bit of fear in that canyon.

So we did what we do as a sales team.

We cheered each other on. We joked. We laughed. We high-fived. We hugged.

We faced our fears, and we did it anyway.

Guess what? At the end of our day, we flew through it together.

You cannot live your BEST life sitting on the bleachers and watching from the sidelines.
